SEM 4 - MEASUREMENT 4

MEASUREMENT 4 | QSB 2125

Measurement 4 is one of the core subject in semester 4. For this semester, measurement 4 consists of a mid semester test, one assignment, an ECA workshop ( which is new to me) and finally, a final examination at the end of the semester. I have miss a lot of my measurement classes as I frequently gotten ill during this pass semester.

In the mid term test, I tried my best but I am not too sure how well I did as we never gotten the chance to see our mistakes. I know i did pretty well but then again, I realised there we a lot of careless mistake I made which then I cannot conclude where do I stand.

For the assignment, it was a group project which compromises of 6 members. My group and I, were to measure all the elements of a double storey building from top to bottom. We were needed to come out with a Bills of Quantities together with a set of tender documents which is used to call for tender. The task was divided by our lecturer. I had to do windows, doors, internal ceiling finishes, letter box, refuse chamber and preliminaries. Although the workload was separated, we worked together as a team to get everything done. In the end, it came out pretty smooth. I now know how to work in groups, which I think will come pretty handy when I start working as a Quantity Surveyor.

The ECA workshop was a pretty fun experience as it was a new thing for me. Each one of us were group up to ten members. We were required to prepare a detail cost analysis of a building project within a week. This also concludes the preparation of an ECA report. Although only a week, it felt like a lifetime of experience.
